Kate Alen is the pilot of the Super Piranha, and is a famous singer chosen to perform for the opening ceremonies for the F-Zero Grand Prix.
As a songstress who had lost her passion, she had a desire to be free of being manipulated by the world. She and Mr. EAD shared a mutual fondness, originally after it had been one-sided from his end.
Appearance[]
Kate Alen is an adult black woman with black hair and brown eyes. She is usually featured in either one of two outfits: One of which is her songstress attire that consists of a long green dress, matching color headband, elbow length gloves, and heels. The other is her pilot/race attire, which consists of an orange and magenta color scheme, and silver bracelets.
Personality[]
Kate was once described (by her manager, Gordon) as a naïve girl who was passionate about singing, until people used her. This caused her to lose trust and become wary of those around her, such as the Elite Mobile Task Force in Lap 06. This worsened when she found out that they only agreed to 'protect' her if they could lure out Zoda in the process.
However, she is not entirely cold, as she cried over Mr. EAD after he was destroyed while protecting her from Zoda. By the end of Lap 06, her passion for singing had been reignited as well as her happiness. It is implied that she also developed romantic mutual feelings for Mr. EAD.
In Lap 21, she has a bit of a diva personality, as she wants to win the title of Miss Galaxy, despite already being a galaxy wide famous singer. She brushes off Lisa Brilliant's remarks, and also refers to Super Arrow as Mrs. Arrow's useless husband. She also provokes Lisa during the Ladies Race, prompting the space pirate to call for her Excellent Queen and fire at Kate's Super Piranha on the track.

Pre-2201[]
Kate Alen was a famous singer, and had done performances for the F-Zero opening ceremonies.[1] But along the course of her career, she lost her enthusiasm due to being manipulated by others.[1]

At some point, Kate had been threatened by Zoda in the year 2201 in Lap 6.[1] Though Elite Mobile Task Force leader Jody Summer had encountered Kate at the start of the episode, it was revealed that the Task Force was then called in by Gordon, Kate's manager, to protect her.[1] Despite Kate's objections, she had to go undergo restrictions on her freedom and had to stay within the confines of her home for the most part.[1] Already wary of the Task Force's true intentions, her suspicions were confirmed as she dismantled Mr. EAD, who had become smitten with Kate, and analyzed his data cube.[1]

Kate then told the Task Force she no longer wished to be protected, now knowing what they truly were using her for. As she went for a drive alone, she was encountered by Zoda, but EAD arrived to save her and even took a knife to the back which made him collapse.[1] As Zoda came back around in his machine to attack Kate, EAD rose again and even took the Death Anchor head on with his bare hands.[1] Putting much force and energy into the action, he threw the Death Anchor aside.[1]

Zoda made his escape, but EAD had overexerted his energy and ended up destroying himself.[1] Kate tearfully realized just what EAD had done for her, as Jody Summer and Ryu Suzaku arrived.[1] Kate's passion for singing returned after this course of events, and Mr. EAD had been fully rebuilt.[1]

At some point in the same year, Kate was a participant of the 2201 Ladies Race, rivaled by Mrs. Arrow.[2]
2202[]

In the year 2202, Kate would later appear in Port Town for a dinner performance on a cruise ship in Lap 15.[3] However, there is a scene in the episode in which Tanaka daydreams about her, and even has a poster of her in a Galaxy Police uniform, stating "I want to make her Chief again."[3]
After the Elite Mobile Task Force (and indirectly, John Tanaka) had thwarted Dark Million's plans to transport their goods to the cruise ship, Kate met with the Task Force and greeted them.[3] However, she didn't seem to recognize Tanaka, who had been desperate to see her.[3]

Kate was also later seen at the Ladies Race in Lap 21, more focused on a battle with Lisa Brilliant and trying to avoid the blasts from Lisa's battleship, the Excellent Queen. Although, Kate had been a participant in a previous Ladies Race in the year 2201, and had been kidnapped briefly by Dark Million shortly before the 2202 F-Zero Ladies Race began. She, along with Lisa, Mrs. Arrow, and Super Arrow, was rescued by Samurai Goroh and his bandit crew, who had actually come to rescue Lisa. [2]

Kate is a playable character with her machine, the Super Piranha. She is not featured in the story mode.

Trivia[]
- Kate's design in the anime is a hybrid between her two different designs in F-Zero X and F-Zero GX, retaining the base design of the former while partly adapting the skimpyness of the latter. Her afro is also styled significantly shorter than both designs.
- (Anime Universe) John Tanaka is notably infatuated with Kate and even claimed he "wants to make her Chief again". Tanaka says this while looking at a poster of her dressed in a Galaxy Police uniform, which is implied to have been done purely for recruitment purposes. Despite this, Kate openly does not remember meeting him.[3]
