He resembles Captain Falcon in at least his attire, and even claims to have relative blood ties to him, though no one knows for sure if this is true or not.[1]
Bios for Kent and his machine are absent from Maximum Velocity's game manuals across all regions. Although brief biographies can be found within the F-Zero for Gameboy Advance Very Fast Pilot Manual Guide and a Nintendo Power article about the game.

With great acceleration and above-average balance, the Falcon Mk-II is a well-rounded machine. The pilot, Kent Akechi, claims to be Captain Falcon’s son.[2]
Trivia[]
Kent has a pin or patch on his shirt that has the logo of the Falcon Mk-II on it.
His last name being "Akechi" seems to imply that he might be of Japanese descent.
In kanji, the name "Akechi" is written as "明智"; 明 meaning bright or light, and 智 meaning wisdom, intellect or reason. However since his last name is spelt in katakana like every other pilots including ones with japanese sounding names such as Kumiko, it is unknown if his name in kanji would follow the same writings.
Kent's relation to Captain Falcon is never emphasized upon in terms of stating what kind of specific relation he claims to have.[1] Nintendo Power is the only source that specifically mentions a claim of a direct relation, saying that Kent "claims to be the son of Captain Falcon."[2]
Considering that Captain Falcon was a bounty hunter with many enemies and has been full of mysteries in most of his profiles, someone supposedly related to him just openly claiming they are his successor of sorts seems very dangerous.
It is also likely that claims could be made by anyone. Nintendo, to this day, has not acknowledged Maximum Velocity nor its pilots since the game's release in 2001. As such, there is still no confirmation on whether or not Kent's claim is true.
